The PleximmuneTM test is a functional cell-based test.
- In this test, the anti-donor activity present in a transplant recipient at any given moment is evaluated under conditions, which simulate the host-graft interaction.
- Anti-donor activity is measured by recipient T-cytotoxic memory cells (TcM), which express the inflammatory marker, CD40 ligand or CD154. Anti-donor activity is measured after recipient lymphocytes are stimulated with donor cells.
- The anti-donor activity of recipient lymphocytes is reported relative to activity of these lymphocytes against non-donor human cells.
- This type of reporting format makes test results specific to the individual transplant recipient. Test results are delivered within two days of obtaining a blood sample from the transplant recipient.
